Founded in 2008 by Michael, Roy, and Dan, The Gold Company was created to meet Australia’s need for a trusted, full-service gold and diamond buyer offering real financial solutions to everyday people.
Since then, we’ve grown into The Gold Company Group, expanding our services across multiple channels, including buying and selling precious metals and diamonds, bullion investment, insurance, and expert valuation services.

The Gold Company founders
Michael Cohen
Michael Started his career serving an apprenticeship as a diamond cutter, polisher, cleaver and marker for a major DeBeers sightholder in South Africa. In 1988, Michael then established a diamond cutting works (DCW) in Johannesburg CBD. In 2001, the family migrated to Australia where they set up the DCLA, Australia’s first and only internationally accredited and endorsed Diamond grading laboratory.
Roy Cohen
Roy is an expert in rough and polished diamonds and was active in developing mining interests in the Kimberley area of South Africa and other African countries. His in-depth knowledge of gold, silver, and his qualifications in economics have been the backbone of the Gold Company, making him an indispensable part of the consumer’s experience when dealing with The Gold Company
Dan Novick
Dan owned and operated a professional aviation business in Australia. Dan’s business expertise is extensive across many different companies, including gold, diamonds, and other innovative technology companies. His deep involvement with Australia’s first onsite, internationally-accredited diamond grading laboratory (DCLA) further strengthens the team’s commitment to precision and trust. With his experience in selling and buying gold, Dan has helped earn the team an impeccable reputation in the trade around the globe.
